The Integrated Management System (SIG) is a team that finds and promotes leadership focused on facilitating quality management, environmental protection and security, always looking for continuous improvement, contributing to the human capital development, innovation, process efficiency, value generation in the areas of Quality, Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Protection, thereby promoting growth and competitiveness of the organization as well as the strong commitment to the welfare of people and the environment, this is evident by obtaining three certifications; ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and in Environmental Quality that position Hutchison Ports TIMSA as one of the first companies in the port of Manzanillo in achieving these three statements of that commitment. Among the main activities in the environmental field developed by this department are:

  • Service and follow-up to visits from authorities.
  • Planning, implementation and monitoring of internal and external audits of the EMS and QMS.
  • Identification, assessment and management of environmental legal compliance.
  • Identification and determination of environmental aspects of the organization.
  • Obtaining and maintaining environmental certifications.
  • Establishing, monitoring and verification of operational controls on processes to mitigate environmental aspects of the organization.
  • Planning, design and implementation of environmental campaigns and events.
  • Establishment and monitoring of environmental objectives of the organization.
  • Activities or projects for waste reduction or environmental improvement.

Responsibilities

To mitigate the potential environmental impacts of the organization activities, to help processes be more efficient, to reduce waste, as well as to maintain an interaction and a healthy image to the environmental authorities and the community.

Environmental campaigns

Each year Hutchison Ports TIMSA performs various environmental campaigns focused on awareness; some are made by internal diffusion and other through participation of the society. In 2014, 49 campaigns were realized. Some of them are:

Environmental Performance

Remarks:

  1. Scope 1 Emissions (tonne CO₂e) is the GHG emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the port.
  2. Scope 2 Emissions (tonne CO₂e) is the GHG emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heat and cooling.
  3. Carbon Intensity (kg CO₂e/TEU), is the total of Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG Emissions divided by the port’s annual throughput.
  4. The emissions factors applied for the calculation of Scope 1 are adopted from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (UK).
  5. The emissions factor applied for the calculation of Scope 2 GHG Emissions area adopted from the International Energy Agency.
