Technology - Terminal Internacional de Manzanillo (TIMSA)

Besides the constant investment in equipment and infrastructure, Hutchison Ports TIMSA bets on the future with innovation as a seal of improvement in our daily activities.

  • Simulation Models.- We develop models of real systems in order to understand their behavior, evaluating new strategies within the limits of one or more criteria as “business rule”.
  • Optical Recognition .- Automatic access control innovation by cameras and equipment of Optical Character Recognition (OCR), with automatic recording of photographs of in-and-out containers, both land and sea, and advance notice by customers via the web.
  • Tracking of port equipment.- Elementary initiative equipment for virtualizing and monitoring of the truck beds. The GPS installed in each of the devices allows “viewing” their precise location on the map of the port of Manzanillo, thus achieving faster transfers from other operators to Hutchison Ports TIMSA and to monitor performance / productivity of our equipment.
  • Online Service for customers.- The customer experience is a competitive differentiator in the port of Manzanillo. Using a web interface avoids transfers and bureaucracy for agents, authorities and consignees that perform procedures or queries.
  • High value CFS.- Initiative that consists in designing services adapted to specific customer needs, related to LCL cargo, in our CFS warehouse, unique in the Port of Manzanillo for its self-supporting structure based on selective type racks.

HUTCHISON PORTS launched the MOBILEPORT application in Mexico, the first real-time cargo monitoring system developed by a port operator. With an investment of $ 50,000, it seeks to streamline the flow of information regarding port services at Hutchison Container Terminals in the country and will drive it as a strategic partner for the end customer and shipping lines.

“MOBILEPORT will allow us to be close to our customers with permanent communication platforms, sharing data on the operation and status of their merchandise,” explained Jorge Magno Lecona, director of the Latin America and Caribbean Division of HUTCHISON PORTS.

MOBILEPORT allows the users to consult the itinerary of the ships and know the information of their cargo. It also sends timely alerts regarding events, news of interest and gives the option to share information with other users.

This application is available for iOS and Android systems for free.
